Case Study: Stannah Replaces Goods Lift in Wimbledon’s Southern Co-op

In common with most large retail stores, custom in the Ridgway Southern Co-op in Wimbledon moves fast – and its existing lift needed replacing to meet the increasing workload. So, who better to install a brand new Goodsmaster 1000CD goods only lift than UK lift experts, Stannah.

Stannah was responsible for all works related to the supply and installation of the existing lift’s replacement, including flexing around the store’s operation to keep business running smoothly and customers happy.

Responsible for the movement of stock-filled roll cages between two floors, the single-entry goods lift car interior is finished in grey baked enamel epoxy finish, complete with bump rails and chequer plate steel floor, with loads safely secured in transit by a (stainless) galvanised-steel picket gate. 

Concertina landing gates minimise encroachment into landing space and operation is simple via a push-button control panel at each landing entrance, with an emergency stop button for further reassurance.

The chain drive (CD) offers a positive speed ratio and the ability to transfer a large amount of torque within a compact space, making this service lift ideal for a store open 15 hours a day, seven days a week.

On the shop floor, store manager, Raj Satahrajah, comments:
