This £2.25m indoor climbing centre is located in Ransomes Europark in Suffolk. It is the first of its kind in the UK and the largest in the world, with facilities ranged over two floors:
- The climbing zone that rises throughout the entire height of the building
- An Arcade and Gaming Zone
- Soft play area
- Paddy & Scott’s Café
- Event rooms
- Toilets and showers
The Stannah vertical lift is sited next to the stairs and carries people from the ground floor to the mezzanine/viewing level—a distance of three metres. It brings powered access for visitors of all ages and mobilities, including wheelchair users.
At ground level, the access lift has a fully glazed door and a small ramp for easy access while at the upper level, the half-height, gated model is ideal for the requirements of a mezzanine floor.
The disabled lift was specified by Ed Perryman, Architectural Technologist at Barefoot & Gilles:
